2012 Could’ve Been Worse (and Better)

Happy New Year, Charlie BrownWell, we’re down to less than 12 hours left in 2012. It’s been a bit of a rocky year over here. Some good. Some bad. And lots of meh.

On the negative side, we’ve cut back family expenses a lot and I’ve been aggressively looking for a full-time permanent job. I’ve had a few interviews but no offers yet. I had to let my entire on-site staff go on my social shopping site JoeShopping.com, as we did some extreme downsizing. On a larger national front, there were a ton of natural disasters (Sandy walloped our area but good), and all sorts of tragedies (with the recent Sandy Hook shooting being the most devastating).

On the positive side, though, I’ve got my wonderfully amazing family, and together we had such an incredible year. Jason was a keynote speaker at MIT. I was on the Katie Couric show with Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James. The Avengers movie came out and kicked major ass! My new voting site JoeVote.com is live in a beta mode, and we hope to give it an initial push in the next few weeks. So I’m excited about that.

I also started this blog in 2012 and have watched it explode in just a few short months. It’s introducing me to so many wonderful new people and blogs out there. Plus, I’m just having a total blast writing for it.

All in all, things could be worse. And they could be loads better. Here’s hoping 2013 bumps things up in the positive direction!

If you’re heading out tonight, please be responsible and don’t drink and drive! And if you’re not drinking but you are driving, please be extra alert for other drivers out there. Wishing you and your loved ones a very Happy New Year! Thanks so much for being a part of my blogging community!

Happy New Year!

    • Good for you, Daraya. They say the hardest step is the first one, and they’re right! (They just never tell you that the second and third steps are pretty rough and sweat-inducing too!) 🙂

  1. I feel like 2013 will be better too. I am getting my braces off after 5 years, graduating college, and starting a family. I only have positive thoughts about the year ahead.

  2. Sounds like you’ve had ups and downs like I have. I lost my job and now have to look for a new one. I really want to move out of the state I currently live in, so I’m trying to look at this as the opportunity to do that. So I am really hoping 2013 is a better year than 2012 and also that the country starts healing itself and gun violence goes down and this needless violence is no more, especially towards innocent children.

    • Hey, Kayleen. Thanks so much for your comment. I’m sorry to hear about your job loss. It’s really rough out there right now so I know what a tough time you’re having. Good luck finding a new job and even moving out of state. It’s great that you’re finding some positive potential in all this. And I agree with you on the needless violence. Here’s hoping 2013 is way more peaceful!
