Building Fabulous Memories with Photo Books

Family vacationKnow what I miss? Sitting around with friends and family on the couch, flipping through a photo album. Y’know, the kind where you carefully place two or three photos on a page and then slide the plastic covering over it to keep them all in place.

Except, over time, the pages yellow. The photos slide around. Pages rip out. Actually, scratch that, I don’t miss the photo albums, I miss the memories of looking at them.

I love smart phones. I love how I can take a zillion and one photos of anything I want and instantly share them with people. (Seriously, you can never have enough photos of your sushi dinner!) But I’m also a bit old-fashioned and still love holding a physical photo album in my hands. You just can’t beat it.

A few years ago, Allie started collecting and organizing our thousands of photos and putting together printable photo books through Shutterfly. We still have a long way to go, but we have a few beautiful, hardcover yearbooks themed by years, events or holidays. Halloween is easily my favorite.

We actually even made some up for ourselves and our entire family based on family vacations we’ve all taken together. It’s really a fabulous and unique gift to give to someone, reminding them of the amazing time you spent together. The kids also love just flipping through the books as they remember various water rides and games from the vacations.

It’s so easy to build your own yearbook online too, where you can select the size, colors, backgrounds, text, you name it. The hardest part is really narrowing down the photos you want to choose. Here’s a few thoughts and ideas from Shutterfly on building your own yearbook of memories:
