We don’t have a dog. Not yet, anyways. But it is most definitely on our list, we’re just waiting for the right time.

My wife and I are huge animal lovers, something our youngest son Ryan has definitely inherited. Jason, on the other hand, runs the opposite extreme. He used to be downright petrified of dogs for some reason, but over the years has warmed to the level of just annoyance. So thanks to a pet, our family will certainly grow at some point in the future.

We can’t get a cat because of my allergies, which is also one of the reasons we have hardwood floors throughout the house. But considering my allergies and knowing we will have a pet in the future, I was real excited to test out the new Dyson DC65!

This full size, upright vacuum is one powerful tool for your cleaning arsenal, that’s apparently even more improved than the popular Dyson DC41 model:

Dyson DC65 Features:

  • Brush bar power increased by 25% for superior carpet cleaning
  • New configuration of bristles dig deeper into carpets to remove more dirt
  • Remodeled airflows to help remove more dirt, dust, and allergens from the home.
  • 180AW of suction (vs. 160AW in DC41)
  • Comes in three colors based on variant: Platinum (MF), Purple (AN) and Fuchsia (ANC)
  • Self-adjusting baseplate
  • Long-reach telescopic wand
  • 2x suction of any other vacuum
  • Closer edge pick-up
  • Built to survive 10 years
  • Hygienic bin emptying

The first thing you need to do with the DC65 is… well, put it together. I’m a big fan of Legos and puzzles and put-together desk furniture, so I was eager to dive in! There actually aren’t too many pieces to worry about, though. Here’s what you get right out of the box:

With a few simple steps, you just snap everything in place, and even have a spot to attach a few extra hose attachments.

Now to take it for a test spin! I am such a fan of these bagless vacuum cleaners too. They don’t just look all sci-fi and hi-techy, but emptying a normal vacuum bag always causes dust to fly up in my face and set my allergies off. These bagless ones easily avoid that problem.

I love the handling on this baby. (Sounds like a car, right?) It’s super smooth to move around and it’s incredibly flexible, so you can turn a corner with next to no effort.

My favorite part of all, though? The hose. In the past, it was always so annoying to find the attachments, lug out the hose, attach it on, then attach the bristle attachment, and then remove it all when done. Not with the Dyson DC65. The hose is already attached and hidden behind the handle. Plus, it’s a long-reach telescoping hose!

Step 1: Press the little red button.

Step 2: Release the hose.

Step 3: Stretch and go!

Insane! The Dyson DC65 is like the Inspector Gadget of vacuums!

The Dyson DC65 worked wonders on our hardwood floors, which surprisingly isn’t always as easy as you’d think. I find carpeting easier to vacuum than hardwood most times, though I’m not sure why. Maybe all the dust clings to your carpet, making it easier to vacuum, as opposed to hardwood floors that play hockey with those little dust bunnies.

We plan on getting wall-to-wall carpets in the bedrooms at some point in the future too, so we’ll certainly get the DC65 to multi-task! If you have any pets (and I know you do!), definitely look into the Dyson DC65. Your floors (and your guests) will thank you for it!

The Dyson DC65 is now available at Best Buy ranging from $499-$649 based on various models.
