While driving this weekend to a family get together, we came across a local bridge that’s under construction. They’ve been working on it for a while now and it seems they close half the bridge during construction. That means this two-lane bridge is temporarily a one-lane bridge.
I’ve seen one-lane tunnels before. They have permanent traffic lights on both sides to let one side clear out first. But I’ve never in my life seen a “portable” traffic light before! That’s what was set up on both sides of the bridge. You can see the temporary green traffic light here.
Granted we had to wait almost five minutes on our side before going. But it was worth it to see this rare mechanical feat of nature in its natural habitat.
