Lego-Back-To-The-Future

The year is 2014. We don’t have flying cars. Or time machines. Or… sigh… even hoverboards. But we do have Back to the Future Legos. And that’s good enough for me!

Allie and the boys got me a Lego Back to the Future set for my birthday last month and I finally got around to putting this sucker together. It was the perfect relaxing finish to a holiday weekend.

I don’t need to go into any full, in-depth review of the product. When it comes to construction toys, nobody beats Legos. Hands down. They don’t just make the best quality products out there, they also make the best, easiest-to-follow instructions.

What’s really cool about this Lego Back to the Future set is that you can make the DeLorean time machine from all three Back to the Future films! I started with the original, and still the best. And, well, it’s too darn awesome.

A skateboarding Marty McFly and Doc Brown mini-figs join the fun!

Not only do the doors slide up (I sooo want that in a real car!), but you can see the Flux Capacitor inside!!!

Gotta love the license plate too. Lego is all about the details!

BTTF

Ready to go “Back in tiiiiime”?

I think my favorite part of this thing is the funky exhaust tube that runs along both sides of the car. It just ups the coolness factor. Oh, and yeah, the wheels turn down so the DeLorean can shoot off into space!

I am so loving how Lego is doing more collector-oriented sets like this one. I’m dying to get my hands on the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 next! Now while Lego sets are expensive (though you do get what you pay for), the DeLorean’s just $35. Everyone’s got time for that.

I really hope Lego keeps it going and even delves into TV shows. Imagine a Lego Knight Rider or Dukes of Hazzard set? Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?

  1. Honestly – I thought you must just be teasing me with mocked-up pictures. I even went to the site to verify this exists… and now, I think I must buy one!

We actually just got all of my childhood legos from my parents (some from the 70s)… and my son is loving them. Now, I can introduce him to some of the best movies of all time AND play with Legos at the same time.

  2. I love it! this is pretty cool, my son loves Legos but he has never seen the movies and wouldn’t even know about the DeLorean time machine

  3. What a cute Lego Back to the Future pack with a DeLoren. I liked all of the Back to the Future movies and the Legos are so cute and my nephew would love to have this set.
