Game: Mario Party: Star Rush
The newest Mario Party game, Mario Party: Star Rush, has arrived.
When you first start the game, only one game mode is unlocked but as you play more your Party Level increases and more things are unlocked. So far, I have only unlocked the first 2 modes and those are the ones I will be talking about.
Toad Scramble is the first mode available, and the main mode of the game. In this game, you play as one of the 4 colored toads: red, blue, green and yellow. In contrast to the other Mario Parties, every player rolls the dice and moves at the same time. The boards in this mode are made up of many squares and you can move in any direction. There are many coins found around the board.
Ally characters appear every so often and if collected they help you. Each ally has a different dice block that they roll. For example, Mario’s dice block has the numbers 0, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 while Waluigi’s has – 2 coins, – 2 coins, 6, 6, 6, 6.
Along with ally characters, bosses appear randomly. Each map has 3 to 5 bosses that appear on set spaces. The first person to reach to boss space gets to fight the boss while everyone else starts later. The person who wins the boss fight gets a star or two stars if it is the last boss. After all the bosses are defeated the person with the most stars or the most coins if there is a tie in stars wins.
The second, and so far my favorite mode, is Coinathlon. In this mode, you play 3 different minigames which all have some way of collecting coins. Each coin a player collects moves their character 1 space ahead. There are items that can be collected to help you or hinder your opponent. Once a player completes a certain amount of laps, they win.
There is also a character gallery that showcases the many different characters in the game as well as a short description of them.
All in all, Mario Party: Star Rush is a fun game to play with friends or even just with CPUs.
I give it 5/5 stars.
