I’m in love. I’m a mega pop-culture geek, who also happens to love a good infographic or chart. Well, just like a Reese’s Monkey and a cup of peanuts, someone managed to mix two great tastes that taste great together.
Pop Chart Lab is just full of pure awesomeness. Ridiculous? Perhaps. Super geeky? Most definitely.
See, the geeky, brainy folks behind PCL (that’d be Patrick Mulligan and Ben Gibson), do insane research on various topics and find a way to consolidate all that info into one handy dandy little chart.
The first one that caught my eye was The Illustrious Omnibus of Superpowers #1. This colorful chart is basically a “taxonomic tree of over 100 wondrous powers and abilities, with over 200 superheroes and supervillains as examples thereof.” In other words, it lists more than 100 superpowers (super strength, claws, turn into water) and over 200 super heroes and supervillains that have those powers.
They’ve got tons more prints covering things like baseball team names, rap names, the history of Apple and more. Prints are available for roughly $30 apiece. Here’s a look at some of my favorites:
The Illustrious Omnibus of Superpowers #1
The Diabolical Diagram of Movie Monsters
The Titanic Taxonomy of Wrestler Names
The Very, Very Many Varieties of Beer
I’d love to see these guys tackle topics like: ’80s TV shows, football teams, video game characters, the evolution of Legos, movie aliens, and sushi!
Check out Pop Chart Lab for more details, and much larger images!
No, this is NOT a sponsored post at all. I just think they guys put out some really neat and unique products and wanted to help spread the word. Also, shout-out to my comic-loving buddy Greg for the tip!
I guess its cool — although I’d like topics like nail polish chocolate and shoes ~LOL
These are really amazing.
