So You’ve Signed Up for a New Health Plan – Now What?

I’ve had a number of jobs in my life ranging from editorial to project management. And every time I switched companies, the most important thing I’d tackle on the first day was to make sure I was enrolled in the company’s health plan.

Every plan, of course, is different. From provider to provider, as well as a variety of plans from the same provider. There’s different costs all over the place (premiums, co-pays, coinsurance, specialists, medication, etc.), varying deductibles, in-network and out-of-network. The list goes on and on.

Whether you’re jumping into your very first health plan on your own, or switching plans for the umpteenth time, you may feel just a tad bit overwhelmed. There’s the paperwork to fill out, the giant book to go through and the ID cards to make sure you put in your wallet.

So, you’ve signed up for a new health plan. That’s great! But now what?

That’s exactly the question that the folks over at UnitedHealthcare are looking to answer! The company’s latest micro-website aims to help get you on the right path of using your health care plan after you’ve signed up for it. The website features three interactive games and quizzes to test your knowledge and teach you a thing or two along the way.

Best of all? Just for participating, you can be entered into a sweepstakes with $100 weekly prizes and a big $500 monthly prize! That’s a separate sweepstakes for each of the three sections.

Health Facts 123

First up is the Health Facts 123 game. This part’s a pretty straight-forward pop-quiz of sorts. Just answer three basic true/false or multiple choice questions centering around how to use your health plan.

Look and Learn

This engagement features a short video that walks you through a number of key steps you should take after enrolling in your new health plan. Following the Look and Learn video, you’ll be given just one question to answer based on what you just viewed.

Take a look at this video to get a jumpstart on your learning:

Perfect Match

Personally, the Perfect Match is my favorite! Next to word search puzzles, matching games are my favorite. This memory/concentration game sees you flipping over cards to match up a generic health care term with its definition. It’s a great way to really think about and understand the basic terminology that you’ll be using regularly with your health plan.

After submitting your answers to each of the three sections, you’ll see the correct answers and have a chance to enter your information to be entered into the weekly and monthly sweepstakes. Oh, and when you see a field to enter a promo code, please enter MOMMYSBUSY, so UnitedHealthcare will know I’m the one who sent you.

Interactive games and a chance to win some cash? Yeah, who says learning about health care can’t be fun? In keeping with the entertaining theme, UnitedHealthcare is so excited about these three new interactive games that they’re sponsoring a giveaway right her on Mommy’s Busy, Go Ask Daddy!

You can win a $100 Amazon Gift Card just for learning about how to use your health plan. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Enter below and good luck to all you health-minded readers.
