Why Mexico Should Be Your Next Destination

We’ve all sat at our desks dreaming of white sandy beaches and crystal clear seas while the UK weather outside is less than desirable. So you’ve decided to make that dream a reality? There is one destination that should be at the top of your list — Mexico. There’s more to Mexico than Spring Break and Carnaval (Mardi Gras) it is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. So to make your trip truly unforgettable here are the top five beaches you must visit while in Mexico.

Playa Paraiso

As the name suggests Playa Paraiso is paradise. Mile upon mile of white sand and serene seas — perfect for when you want to dip a toe and cool down. Playa Paraiso also serves a wide selection of food and drink with the many bars and restaurants that run up and down its length, giving you little excuse to leave your sun bed, which is exactly what you want on a relaxing beach holiday.

Akumal Beach

A sealife lovers dream, you cannot visit Mexico and not visit Akumal Beach, it is more crowded than beaches like Playa Paraiso, however, the snorkelling alone makes it worthwhile. Within minutes you can come face to face with sea turtles. Err on the side of caution and you will be rewarded with turtles feasting on sea grass inches below your feet. Invest in an underwater camera and capture this once in a lifetime experience. You will not be disappointed.

Playa Zicatella

If calm and serene sound a bit dull to you then head to Playa Zicatella. A surfers paradise, the strong currents and huge waves are thrilling, though not for beginners or the faint of heart. Not as pristine as the other beaches either it’s not going to be a sunbathers first choice, but for the adrenaline junkie in your life, it’s perfect.

Playa del Amor

Lover’s beach is the perfect place for a romantic getaway, it is only accessible by boat and remains unspoilt by all the trappings of the modern world. There are no vendors, bars and restaurants here, just beautiful scenery. Not in a relationship (or want to give your other half a hint)? Fear not, walk across to the Pacific side and visit Divorce beach, just be careful, the waves can be treacherous!

Chichen Itza

The more savvy among you may have realized that this is not a beach, however, we cannot talk about Mexico and not mention the fourth wonder of the world, Chichen Itza, the famous Mayan temple city. Take a tour round this fascinating site is bound to leave you awe struck, and history buff or not, it will definitely end up as a highlight of your trip.
