The Mario Kart 8 Wii U Bundle Giveaway! (Ends 12/1)

NintendoKidReviewers

Nintendo is just way too much fun of a company. Their games are just full of the cutest little details, particularly sound effects and phrases. How can you not laugh when you hear a slightly portly plumber in blue overalls mutter, “Momma Mia!”?

Well, they’ve brought that same love to a brand-new website of theirs called Play Nintendo! This site is chock full of everything from character descriptions to Do-It-Yourself Crafts to game tips and tricks. It’s a mishmash of anything and everything Nintendo and it’s styled in a really appealing manner.

Seriously, how adorable does that look? Click on a character like Kirby or Toad, and you’ll get a page chock full of specific character info. There’s also character-related content on the page for anything related to the the little guy!

PlayNintendo-Toad

You can read a slew of fun articles about upcoming games, look at neat image galleries, take some customer polls, or even download some great activities. There’s all sorts of pure enjoyment crammed into every nook and cranny.

Just like in all the Mario games, there’s a mystery item box. Click it and you’ll never know what you’re going to find. Could be a hysterical Kirby animation, a super quick “grab the coins” game or a retro Mario sauntering across the screen.

But my absolute favorite thing on Play Nintendo? The Search bar. Yeah, what’s normally boring, is downright hysterical! Click the Search Button and Yoshi spits out his looooong tongue, hungrily waiting for your keywords!

That’s just me, though. Considering that my boys are Nintendo Kid Reviewers, I asked them what they each thought about the Play Nintendo site. Here’s what they had to say:

Ryan (age 9): “Play Nintendo is a really cool website. On the screen it has all these different little boxes that tell you about different topics like about a character or a tip, a trailer, polls or even a gallery. Theres also question blocks that when you click or touch them they do something a little funny but I’m not going to tell you anything. You can learn more about your favorite Nintendo friends, explore or find news. Play Nintendo is a fun way to learn about Nintendo.”

Jason (age 11): “Play Nintendo is a really fun website.  On the home screen there are many shapes you can click on that let you do polls, quizzes, downloads, galleries, videos and activities. My favorites are the quizzes. You can use this website to find out about so of your favorite Nintendo characters.  You can also see news, upcoming games, and tips and tricks about your favorite games.  Therefore, Play Nintendo is a really fun website.”

But Play Nintendo isn’t just for kids! There’s actually a Parents section, that’s easily accessible through a big ol’ “Parents” button in the upper right corner.

PlayNintendo-ParentsTips

Set up more like a standard resource site, you’ll find basic info on characters, tips on game purchases and a whole ton of activities you can do with your kids. It’s not all game-specific too! Learn how to to help your kids develop good study habits and how they should handle friending within games.

There are Parent’s Guides tackling your child’s safety from the social side of things to ESRB game ratings. It’s also just a great way to learn a ton about some of your kids’ favorite games and characters, so you can, you know, understand half of what they’re talking about with their friends.

A fabulous new hangout for kids and adults alike, Play Nintendo brings the fun of the popular gaming console to a content-filled website environment! Check it out toady… er, today!

  1. I like how they have all the characters separate so you can click on the character and get all of the information about them. Its easy to navigate the web site and that is pretty cool also.

  6. I really like the way they used “Miis” in the layout; the little avatars similar to ones you create on your Wii or WiiU. It’s a fun to navigate site, I could browse it for an hour!

  7. I loved the Mario question block. It brings up something silly every time you click it, and I love it. The only issue I had with the site was that when ever I scrolled up, even if just a little bit, the navigation bar would fall down. The pages aren’t so long that I need that feature, and it gets intrusive at times. If they were to keep that feature, maybe make it so that the scrolling navigation bar was smaller and less intrusive.

I know that isn’t going to win me any points, but I spent quite a bit of time just trying to find the activities and I found it really difficult to navigate. I mostly just saw videos and character descriptions I probably wouldn’t spend much time there.
