Ask my wife what my favorite food in the whole world is and she’ll respond with one word: variety. Oh, yeah, and she’ll roll her eyes like crazy while she says it too.

Call me crazy, but I like variety in life, particularly when I’m eating. I’m not the type of guy who wants the same exact meal every night. I can’t eat oatmeal for breakfast every single day of my life. I need to change it up.

That’s why breakfast can be a bowl of cereal, a bagel, an egg-white omelette (gotta watch the cholesterol), 19 strips of turkey bacon, or if I’m really, really lucky… a slice of cold leftover pizza!

One of my favorite breakfast “treats” though is an egg sandwich. Yeah, a big greasy egg, with a sausage patty on a roll with gobs of melted cheese. …jj;;lkhk;jiouh;ioh;uijj  Oops. Sorry. I just drooled all over my keyboard there.

Anyways, that’s not really the healthiest thing in the world, so it’s pretty rare that I get one. But when I saw that Weight Watchers’ Smart Ones line had breakfast sandwiches with Canadian bacon or turkey sausage, I almost couldn’t wait to wake up early in the morning just for breakfast. Almost. (I’m sooooo not a morning person.)

The Canadian bacon sandwich is actually pretty good, but when I tried the turkey sausage one… yeah, I was in love. So now I’ve got a freezer full of these tasty little sandwiches and probably have one maybe three or four times per week. Besides tasting scrum-deli-icious, they’re also a snap to make. Pop ’em in the microwave for a couple of minutes and you’ve got a hot breakfast ready to go.

Hey, that certainly beats opening a box of cereal, pouring it into a bowl, getting out the milk, pouring that on top of the cereal, getting a spoon… you get the picture. That’s an awful lot of work for someone to do in the morning before they’ve had their first cup of coffee, right?

    Dude, i’m like you- always have to mix up breakfast. when I was trying to get my cholesterol in gear years ago, i did the “eat oatmeal” every day for six months..and while it helped and I lost weight, I was bored dumb and had to force myself to eat the oatmeal, it became like gruel! Nowadays, always coffee, water, and gluten-free Chex cereal, oatmeal once in a while but NOT that often, egg white omelettes, gluten free waffles and pancakes, really, nothing is out of the realm of possibility.
