When I think of school uniforms, the first thing to come to mind is… pudding.
No, I’m not referring to the 1974 Colorful Cafeteria Clash of Columbus Prep or the even messier St. Francis Food Fight Fiasco of 1988.
No. When I think of school uniforms, for some reason, the first thing I think of is Pink Floyd‘s classic 1988 album The Wall. In particular the video for the song “Another Brick in the Wall Part 2.”
You’ve heard it whether you realize it or not. It’s the song that has tons of kids screaming, “We don’t need no education…” Part of the song has the teacher screaming at the kids, “How can you have your pudding if you don’t eat your meat?” And therein lies the reason why I equate school uniforms with pudding.
At this point you’re either pumped because you’re a big Pink Floyd fan (in which case, you can “shine on, you crazy diamond”), or you think all the medication I’m on for my pneumonia is producing some pretty interesting blog posts.
Well trust me, it all makes sense. See, Mommy’s Busy Go Ask Daddy is taking part in a joint blog giveaway with The Children’s Place. You can win a $500 Gift Card to the clothing store (more about that in a minute). But the Children’s Place wanted to share the fact that they have an entire section of their site dedicated to school uniforms.
The closest thing I’ve ever had to a school uniform was having to wear gold T-shirt and blue shorts to gym class in high school. My kids have never had school uniforms either, so I’ve never really given them much thought. Looking through The Children’s Place’s site, though, there are some pretty adorable pieces.
Boy’s Fleece Cardigan
I don’t know how long my kids would keep this on, but this fleece cardigan just instantly matures them a good two or three years, wouldn’t you say?
Boy’s Striped Oxford Shirt
This boy’s striped oxford shirt is something Allie and I would definitely buy for our kids now, not even in terms of a school uniform!
It’s funny, I always thought school uniforms had to be super ugly and super boring. Just dark blue and white. Solids, no stripes. But looking at this collection from The Children’s Place, I see that I was quite wrong.
Boy’s Uniform Sweater Vest
Of course, there’s always the traditional uniform sweater vest (available in dark blue or grey). This is more like the traditional school uniform style I think of. Though it’s pretty impossible to find a kid who doesn’t look twice as adorable in a sweater vest.
Boy’s Uniform Polo
Polo shirts are another big purchase of ours for the boys. It’s an easy way to quickly “dress up” Jason or Ryan from their usual SpongeBob or Super Mario T-shirts. Available in tango red or sunny (online exclusive!) colors, these bold, colorful uniform polo shirts do a great job of dressing up without looking too stuffy. If these were the types of school uniforms my kids had to wear, I’d be totally in favor of them!
Those are just a few of the pieces that stand out to me from The Children’s Place. We used to buy tons of clothes there when our kids were younger and I definitely liked the price and the quality. It’s tough with kids because they outgrow things so incredibly quickly. (For some reason, if you keep feeding them, they keep growing. Crazy, huh?) So you don’t want to spend a fortune on nice clothes.
If you’re looking for school uniforms, definitely check out The Children’s Place’s collection first to see if they have what suits your needs. In any event, be sure to enter the group giveaway below for a shot at a $500 Children’s Place Gift Card!

I prefer the Uniform Polo in yellow. I am just a fan of little boys in polo shirts with nice khakis. They look nice and clean cut in a world of scruffy.
I love the Boy’s Striped Oxford Shirt, I love the cute style
i like the fleece cardigan…it looks really cozy and could probably still be worn by a girl and not look weird
I don’t have a little boy, but in the collage picture I really like the girl’s jean jacket!
I like the boy’s fleece cardigan because it is stylish and perfect to bring instead of a jacket!
I think the boys sweater vest is really cute
I love their dress outfits they always suit my son.
I like the fleece cardigan. It would make my son look dapper!

Oxford shirt…my son would look so handsome!

love the fleece cardigan thanks for the chance to win this one
I love the striped oxford shirt. Very stylish and cute. Thanks for the chance.
Love the polo shirts – both kids are in private school and they are part of their uniform.
LOVE the Boys Fleece Cardigan. Very Saved by the Bell!
The fleece cardigan is adorable!
My fav is the striped oxford shirt. Perfect for church.
I gotta go with the sweater vest. Maybe because sweater vests are so easy to toss on any top and look a littler dressier…or maybe because I see a sweater vest and think Chandler Bing.
I like the plaid shirt and cardigan combo on the boy in the upper left box in the collage! My baby boy isn’t quite born yet, but I could definitely see putting him in that in a couple years 🙂
Love the cardigan. Super cute for a little one!!
I love polo shirts! They are classic and comfy. 🙂
The fleece cardigan is super cute!
Oh, it’s the cardigan all the way. Cozy… and STYLISH!
I love the oxford and tie with the fedora. Adult-style clothing on littles is my favorite!
I like the Striped Oxfor Shirt. It’s smart.
