Secret Life of Pets

It’s no secret that I love pets, especially dogs. (Sorry all you cat lovers!) And like most pet owners, I always used to have conversations with my dog and picture the crazy adventures he’d go on during the day while I was off at school. That’s why Universal Pictures’ The Secret Life of Pets was such a spot-on perfect movie.

What makes Secret Life of Pets such a hit for me are all the subtle details. The way the dogs say hello to each other by sniffing their butts. The way Chloe the cat is ridiculously aloof and uninterested in everything. And even the way main pooch Max is beyond loyal and excited to see his owner Katie come home from work every single day.

Wrap all those perfectly portrayed pet characteristics to a ridiculously over-the-top abandoned-pets underworld and you have quite the entertaining yarn!

In their fifth fully animated feature-film collaboration, Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures present The Secret Life of Pets, a comedy about the lives our pets lead when we leave for work or school. Max, voiced by Louis C.K., is a loyal terrier living a perfectly happy existence until his owner, Katie (Ellie Kemper) brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet) a big, boisterous mutt she finds at the shelter. When Max and his unruly new “roommate” slip away from their dog-walker, they find themselves lost in the urban jungle of New York City. In an attempt to stay ahead of animal control and a rebel band of abandoned pets led by an unhinged bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart), they put aside their differences to survive the epic journey back home.

  4. My first and only pet was an Akita puppy named MUFFIN…not sure why my brother and I thought this was the ‘perfect’ name for a white wolf dog. Our parents gave him away after 6 mos. because he chewed up all the furniture, woodwork, etc. Neither of us has had a pet since then, it was so painful to lose him. Wow, that was 35 years ago…
