There have been horror-themed action figures for decades. From Dracula to the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Jason, Leatherface and Freddie. Every conceivable Walking Dead character you can think of.
But nothing, no nothing, has been more shocking and horrifying as what Fisher-Price has released upon the toy collecting world.
You can now purchase a Little People IT set featuring a Pennywise and Georgie figure.
I’ll admit that I’ve been in a massive Stephen King’s IT mood lately. I definitely enjoyed the two-part movie from a few years ago starring Bill Skarsgård as the shape-shifting, fear-eating monstrosity known as IT. But HBO’s IT: Welcome to Derry series was so much better. So so soooo good.
If you’re unfamiliar, the spooktastic creature’s most popular form is that of clown Pennywise. Clowns are creepy enough to begin with. Add a dash of Stephen King into the mix and you’ve got a heaping dose of “no thank you, I’m just fine standing way over here.”
So forgive me if I’m a bit shocked that Fisher-Price would put out a collector’s version of Little People based on the IT movie. Pennywise himself seems innocuous enough. Adorably evil is certainly how I’d describe him with his buck teeth, fierce yellow eyes and traditional red balloon.
But no, that’s not what puts Fisher-Price at the top of the Horror Toy Pyramid.
Nope. It’s the other figure in this set.
Poor Georgie. One of the first victims of Pennywise that we learn about.
It’s not just that Fisher-Price made a Little People Georgie figure.
It’s just that… GEORGIE HAS HIS RIGHT ARM RIPPED OFF AND THERE’S A BLOODY STUMP LEFT BEHIND!
Yeah, not your typical Little People figure, huh?
I mean, he only has one arm and yet Georgie is still holding his little paper boat that got him in trouble in the first place.
The two figures come in a slick package too, complete with a sewer backdrop and a bloody IT logo on the plastic covering. You can even remove the sewer backdrop and use it as a permanent display case for these two BFFs.
I’ve written about Fisher-Price’s Little People Collector sets before covering The Office, He-Man and Elf figures to name a few. They’ve added oodles more since then, but none as horrifyingly cute as a Little People Pennywise and Georgie.
I guess you could say, this is definitely the “IT toy” on the market right now.
