My kids are pretty lucky. They’re both teenagers and they have all four grandparents in their lives. I just think that’s pretty amazing.
I didn’t know my dad’s father, as he passed when my dad was young. My mom’s father, on the other hand, I did know but only for a little time. I was real young when he passed and the only memory I have of Grandpa Abe is playing with some model trains in his NYC apartment. I was on the floor with them and all I recall is seeing his long legs next to me while I played. Which is funny, because he was actually kind of short.
My grandmothers were certainly a big part of my life growing up, but I often wonder what it would have been like to have really gotten to know my grandfathers. That’s why I think it’s incredible that my kids get to do just that.
I’m so happy that both my dad and father-in-law are still alive and very much a big part of my life and my kids’ lives. That’s why I want to ensure they stay healthy to be a part of our lives for a long time to come!
