I’m Walking the Red Carpet for SOLO: A Star Wars Story #HanSoloEvent

I have a good feeling about this. Then again, it’s hard not to have a good feeling about a special Disney Blogger Trip. Next week, myself and two dozen bloggers will be heading to a city far far away… Los Angeles, California for an action-packed adventure of a lifetime. Yep, I’m making the jump to lightspeed and walking the red carpet for the upcoming SOLO: A Star Wars Story!

I still remember playing with my Han Solo in Hoth Gear action figure when I was a kid. My friend Eddie and I would stick poor Han in an ice bath and then stick him in the freezer. Of course Luke would rescue him in time before we suddenly had Hancicles but it’s crazy that I’m now going to a Red Carpet Premiere of Han’s first “solo” movie!

And we’re finally going to get a glimpse into this Nerf Herder’s past. Hopefully we’ll learn how he and Chewbacca first teamed up, how he first met Lando and most importantly, how the Millennium Falcon fits into it all.

ABOUT SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo befriends his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and meets the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

I’m still waiting for the final itinerary of my trip but I do know there’s more than merely a Red Carpet walk., especially since there’s some serious talent in this film. I’m really hoping we get to meet director Ron Howard and all the actors including Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Donald Glover and Paul Bettany. My biggest hope, though, is we get to interview the lovely and talented Emilia Clarke (QI’RA), who you may be more familiar with as the Mother of Dragons (a.k.a Daenerys Targaryen) on Game of Thrones.

Besides all the Star Wars mania I’m sure to face next week, there are a number of other events planned for us galaxy-faring bloggers. Like what? Glad you asked!

Peter Pan’s 65th Anniversary

You can fly! You can fly! You can fly! Yes it’s really been 65 years since the Disney classic animated film Peter Pan hit theaters. And to celebrate, Disney will be releasing Peter Pan on DVD and Blu-ray via the Walt Disney Signature Collection!

Us bloggers will be doing some celebrating of our own with some seriously cool activities. Besides visiting the Disney Animation Research Library (and seeing all sorts of original drawings and illustrations from the film!), we’ll be getting a tour of Walt Disney’s actual office! I’m really hoping there’s a secret passage behind a bookcase. Oh, and what may be the absolute coolest part of the trip… we’ll also be participating in a scavenger hunt all over the Disney Lot courtesy of our very own pirate maps.

A Wrinkle in Time

Another Blu-ray release that we’ll be helping to welcome home is Disney’s recent film A Wrinkle in Time starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. We’ll be among some of the first people anywhere to watch some of the special behind-the-scenes bonus features from the upcoming Blu-ray release.

We’ll also get to interview Deric McCabe, who played Charles Wallace Murry in the film. I’ve already got a big list of questions for the little guy but let me know in the comments below what you may want me to ask him.

General Hospital

And finally, we’ll be going on an #ABCTVEvent to celebrate 55 years of General Hospital! I remember coming home from school to see my mom and sister glued to the TV as they talked about this Luke and Laura couple. I can’t believe a soap opera’s been on for more than 50 years! For this part of our trip, we’ll go behind the scenes of the popular daytime drama as we prepare for the big Nurses Ball episodes, which hit the week of May 16-21.

General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC
