Okay, okay. I’m married. Geez, coming on 17 years this month! Even still, these days, my mouth has been salivating for something new. Something sweet. Something… subzero.
Yes, I was invited to work on a campaign for the ice cream gurus at Klondike. I said yes and… well… let’s just say if it wasn’t illegal for a number of reasons, I might have to marry one of Klondike’s ice cream bars.
Sure we all know Klondike bars. Rich creamy vanilla ice cream covered in the perfect chocolate shell. So simple yet so delicious. It’s tough to beat. (Not to mention those amazingly deeeeelicious Klondike Kandy Bars that are also available at your grocery’s freezers these days!)
Except… well, the folks at Klondike clearly weren’t satisfied with mere perfection. How else could you explain their constant release of new assorted flavors?
The popular Klondike brand now offers 12 different varieties of the classic chocolatey coated, ice cream-loaded stickless bars. An even dozen flavors that include:
- Cookie Dough Swirl
- Mint Chocolate Chip
- Caramel Pretzel
- Dark Chocolate
- Rocky Road
- Double Chocolate
I was sent coupons to try out four of Klondike’s flavors (And I’m giving away 5 Free Product Coupons too!), so I headed to my local supermarket and came home with frozen arms full of Mint Chocolate Chip, Cookie Dough Swirl, OREO and Caramel Pretzel.
Yes, I had to eat four different varieties of Klondike bars for this blog post. I know, I know. The things I do for my readers!
First up was the OREO Klondike bar!
I’m a big fan of Cookies and Cream ice cream, so I thought this’d be a good safe one to start with. And, BINGO, I was correct. As scrumptious as the Original Klondike bars are with just plain vanilla ice cream, these OREO ones are even better! Creamy and full of OREO goodness, my mouth quickly did a Happy Dance.
Ryan’s a big fan of OREOs too, though to be honest, he’s not a fan of ice cream. Weird, I know. He likes the flavor, just not the cold temperature. (Anyone ever create a warm ice cream that doesn’t melt?)
So he gave the OREO Klondike a try. He definitely liked the chocolate coating and the OREO flavor, but the cold temp still kept him from devouring it.
Next up, was the Mint Chocolate Chip, or as Allie calls it, the “Toothpaste Flavor.” See, I love mint. Mint chocolate. Mint hard candies. And most definitely mint chocolate chip ice cream. I guess it’s an acquired taste and you either love it or think it tastes like mint toothpaste for some reason.
How can anyone not love green ice cream? It just looks so cool! (No pun intended.) Anyways, the Mint Chocolate Chip Klondike bar did not disappoint. If you like Mint Chocolate Chip, stop reading and go buy one. Your mouth will thank me later.
Then it was time for that four word phrase that can either make or break any relationship: cookie dough ice cream.
I have a confession to make. I don’t love cookie dough ice cream. Yes, Allie knows this and yes, we’re still married. It’s easily her favorite flavor of all time. I just don’t get the overall allure but apparently most women seem to go GaGa over it.
So I tried the Cookie Dough Swirl Klondike bar and it pretty much met my expectations. The chocolate was great. The ice cream was delicious. And the cookie dough parts were pretty good. Allie loved it.
Which brings me to the final Klondike bar of the night: Caramel Pretzel.
I love, love, loooove chocolate-covered pretzels. So I was real eager to sink my teeth into this sucker. I mean, just look at the pieces of pretzel jutting out of the chocolate coating there!
The moment of truth arrived. How did it taste?
Like, NOM meets OMG and creates NOMG! My mouth is still writing me thank you notes for introducing it to the Caramel Pretzel Klondike bar.
Seriously, this thing may very well break up my marriage! Not just because I think my mouth wants to marry it, but because Allie and I now have to share. And we’re not very good when it comes to sharing food!
Now that summer’s officially here (as is the crazy heat and humidity), nothing can be more satisfying than some delicious ice cream. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have a hot date with a cold freezer…
