No lie, but there’s a really simple game out there that’s fun for the whole family. It’s called Fibber and we just played it tonight for the first time.
We’re a board game family that loves playing all sorts of different games. Jason’s favorite is always Monopoly. (We have at least nine different versions…) Ryan’s favorite is probably Sorry, even though it always ends in loads of tears and shouts of “I’m not playing anymore.” Though he also likes the game of LIFE. Allie and I like anything that isn’t Mouse Trap or Candy Land.
So we bought the Fibber game for the kids back at the holidays and just never opened it. Until today. And in the goofy vein of Apples to Apples Junior and Headbandz (another great one!), Fibber is loads of fun and super simple with directions.
Basically, you split up a deck of cards and everyone takes turns putting cards down and claiming they have a certain number of objects. In this case, the cards feature crazy things like Bigfoot, Ghosts, Dragons and Aliens. Put down three cards and say “three Dragons” whether you really have them or not. Others can let it slide or scream, “Fibber!” If they caught you in a lie, you take ALL the cards in the middle and add a “nose” on to your funky nose glasses. When all the nose pieces are gone, the game ends and the person with the shortest nose wins.
Take a look at some highlights from our games. (For those keeping score at home, Allie won the first game and Ryan won the second. I got schooled both times, and Jason just missed winning once.)
Here’s Jason showing off the nose glasses.
And here’s Allie showing off how her nose has grown a bit from fibbing.
Ryan had a blast playing and not just because he won.
In the end, I could barely keep my head up, my glasses were so heavy.
Suggested for kids 7 and older, Fibber’s a great party game and not one that’ll take hours and hours like other board games. (Can you say, Monopoly?) There’s even a Disney Fibber version available!
