My NYC Blogging Hat Trick Began with Blogger Bash and a Kissing Pig

I kissed a pig and I liked it. #peppapig #bbnyc

Last week I pulled off the super rare blogging hat trick. Yes, I attended three different blog conferences in three days. Sure, they all overlapped and all took place in New York City, but as you’d expect, there was chaos aplenty!

For those keeping score at home, I made it through Blogger Bash, Blog Her 15 and KidzVuz Back to School Event! The fun started Thursday morning and ran through Saturday night.

My days were filled with meetings, networking, food, bloggers, food, giant walking pigs and more. It was totally insane and worth every penny. Since I took loads of wacky photos, I figured I’d break my Blog Hat Trick into three separate posts to really give each event their due.

So I’ll share them in chronological order with you, starting with Blogger Bash! Taking place down at Pier 60 in Chelsea Piers, NY, this was only the second Blogger Bash. I didn’t attend last year, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Now that I’ve survived my first Bash, I guess the best way to describe it is that Blogger Bash is a collection of different blogger-based events, all in the same area. It’s a mix of networking, panels and an expo hall but broken out in a different way than I’ve ever seen before. It certainly kept me on my toes!

Blogger Bash 2015
My first introduction to Blogger Bash was at their super awesome Sweet Suite event. It’s a carnival-type atmosphere full of fantastic networking opportunities. Of course, Peppa Pig didn’t waste any time getting on my good side.

Sweet Suite is a four-hour expo-like event that’s mainly filled with toy and kid-themed brands. You had everyone from Disney to Nickelodeon to Folkmanis Puppets showing off their products and talking with bloggers about how they’d love to work with them in the future.

Come take a walk with me through Sweet Suite…

How cool is this Ant-Man Ant Farm from Uncle Milton?!? I don’t believe super powers are included, but here’s hoping!

Blogger Bash 2015 #bbnyc

What? You’ve never seen a grown man in a Spider-Man Dune Buggy before? I need to talk to the folks at Dynacraft and see if this comes in an XL size.

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Hey look, it’s my buddy Gabby (she’s 12 kinds of awesomesauce and helps tremendously with all sorts of Disney-related fun for my blog!) from Disney Movies Anywhere! They were showing movies and had nice comfy chairs to sit on! Can you tell what movie’s playing right now?

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Over at the Nickelodeon booth, I had to take a selfie with the mega Michaelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Don’t ask who that shifty-looking photo-bomber is, though. No clue!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

How adorable are these TMNT bath toys???

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

I loved Playmobil as a kid. Heck, my mom still has my Playmobil construction set, complete with the bright orange dump truck! My kids play with it whenever we go visit. But check this out… Playmobil now has an official license with the NHL! Yes, you can get a NY Rangers Playmobil figure!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

There’s actually a whole hockey rink and you can really play a game! There’s stickers, a scoreboard and a zamboni in the works!

Playmobil selfie!

And then I found her… Peppa Pig! My kids crack up at Peppa at home all the time. They watch the show and make fun of it, though I know they secretly must love it. So I definitely need to get my hands on some o’ these toys from Jazwares!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Oh look, I did get my hands on one! Peppa Pig selfie!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Hide the bacon, everyone! There’s loads of Peppa Pig toy insanity coming your way.

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Ryan actually asked for some of these Tube Heroes figures for his birthday. They’re wacky little guys based on actual YouTubers! How crazy is that?

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

What’s even crazier, is that Tube Heroes are made by Jazwares. Yep, the same company that puts out Peppa Pig! I don’t see the family resemblance.

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

Lego even had a table and it took all my willpower not to steal borrow these Flash and Gorilla Grodd mini-figs!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

On my way out, I swung by the Madame Alexander table. They make those popular girl dolls, so I normally would’ve walked right on by. But they had Muppet puppets! So I had to play with my pal Kermie.

Finally, I had one last dance with Peppa Pig before heading out the doors. But Sweet Suite was a total blast full of dozens upon dozens of fantastic companies and brands. It definitely was the highlight of Blogger Bash, I’d say!

The next morning, I attended a Disney Infinity 3.0 breakfast. While I didn’t eat much (the french toast did look good, though!), I devoured the video game demo!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

I so cannot wait for this one to come out in September! Sure it has loads of new Marvel and Disney characters, but the big new release is that it includes Star Wars! We’re finally getting Disney Infinity cartoony style versions of the best characters in the Galaxy!

Blogger Bash #bbnyc

I got to play the game a bit too. There are a few different worlds and environments you can play, so naturally I chose the Classic Trilogy. Yes, the little clear world that you put on the Infinity gamepad is a Death Star! The game is fantastic and you can actually choose to play as the Empire or the Rebels!

I tested out Darth Vader and had a blast tossing my lightsaber across the desert and knocking a Tusken Raider off a cliff!

Scored a bit-yet-released #HanSolo figure for #disneyInfonity #bbnyc

While the game won’t be out for awhile, everyone who attended the breakfast got to take home a not-yet-released Mulan figure and a Han Solo too!

There were a number of other fabulous networking events throughout the day, including a “speed dating” session where bloggers jumped from table to table, meeting different company reps. There were seven tables to go through and at each table, we had roughly five or six minutes to pitch ourselves and our blogs. It was super fast but incredibly beneficial.

At lunch, I had the pleasure of attending a special Peanuts presentation, where the stars of Blue Sky’s upcoming Peanuts movie were on hand to answer some questions! These are the kids behind the voices, and they were a total hoot, particularly Linus. His mom definitely has her hands full!

Our swag bag (which was ginormous!) was power packed with Peanuts goodness including mugs, a Snoopy ornament, a Snoopy Hallmark book, all detergent, Horizon snacks and more! I’m a big Snoopy fan, so I may end up keeping all that stuff for myself!

It was a whirlwind 24 hours at Blogger Bash, and I’ve only shown you a small taste! It was definitely a fabulous start to a funtastic blogging weekend!

Next up: Blog Her 15! Stay tuned!

  1. Wow – that sounded like a whirlwind but definitely fun! My niece thinks Peppa Pig rocks so I love your photos with her. Thanks for sharing your experience!
