Behold the Mighty Ostrich Pillow

Ever just want to completely bury your head in the sand? Or hop on an airplane and get outta down a.s.a.p.?

Well if the brilliant (warped?) minds at Studio Banana have anything to say about it, you may get your wish sooner, than later. Designed by Kawamura-Ganjavian, feast your eyes on the Ostrich Pillow. It’s basically a soft “vest” to hide your head and hands in when you need to just get away.

OSTRICH PILLOW offers a micro environment in which to take a warm and comfortable power nap at ease. It is neither a pillow, nor cushion, bed or garment, but a bit of each all at the same time. It’s soothing cave-like interior shelters and isolates both your head and hands, perfect for a power nap. You can use the Ostrich Pillow at your desk, on a bench, on the train or while you wait at the air …

Originally posted on Kickstarter, the Ostrich Pillow has nearly doubled the amount needed to fund the project, so get ready for a power nap or Calgon moment.

Personally, this thing looks pretty freaky to me. Would I actually wear one in public? Not a chance. First off, it’s like an open invitation to come rob me while I”m sleeping!

I might consider using one to sleep on a plane or take a power nap at my desk, but that’s about it. How about you?

Would you wear an Ostrich Pillow?

  1. I seriously don’t know what to think about this. I mean…should I laugh, or should I cry that this is the type of thing people are “innovating” nowadays. It’s cute at first glance, you know, like for a gag gift of sorts for someone who just doesn’t like to face life and can laugh at him- or herself about it. But upon closer introspection…um…no. Love love love that you discovered it, though, and wrote about it!
