Win Ice Age Continental Drift on Blu-ray and an Ice Age Ice Cube Tray (Ends 12/12)

What's the saddest part about the Ice Age movie series? Yeah, no matter what, you just know that all the main characters are eventually going to take a deep freeze, right? No matter how many times they avoid glaciers, dinosaurs, or even pirates, eventually Mother Nature has to catch up to them, right? That goes to show how lovable all the main characters are, though. Manny, Diego, and Sid have become mainstays in pop culture, as has the nutty Scrat. Their latest adventure, Ice Age Continental Drift hits DVD and Blu-ray shelves on December 11, as the gang crosses paths with sea creatures and a nasty band of pirates, all while ...

Edible Chanukah House Giveaway (Ends 12/2)

Being Jewish has its advantages. I mean, how much fun is getting presents for eight straight nights? On the flip side, we don't get to decorate Christmas trees, hang lights outside our house, kiss under the misletoe, or yes, even decorate Gingerbread Houses. Sure we could do any of those, but they're all pretty much associated with Christians. So instead, we spin our dreidels, stuff our faces with potato latkes (mmmmm), and light about a zillion candles. But you can cross one of those off my holiday wish list now that I've found a Vanilla Cookie Chanukah House from Manischewitz! The company sent me a sample of the product to try out and ...

The Fallout From Hurricane Sandy

Well, we survived another hurricane over here in New York. Thankfully we got away pretty lucky this time. We never lost power and the only real damage is a handful of shingles ripped off the roof and one of the huge trees in our backyard was downed. But let me tell you, those winds are insanely scary. All day yesterday, me, Allie and the kids curled up on the couch watching movies (Avengers and Big Miracle), while we heard and saw massive winds outside. Around dinner time we heard this huge crack, then ran to the kitchen window and barely could make it out. We knew a huge limb or something ...

Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse #Giveaway (Ends 10/4)

I must've been a cat in a former life because no matter what I do, I seem to have a talent for destroying computer mice. Particularly of the wireless variety. I love wireless keyboards and even moreso, love wireless mice. It's just soooo much easier to move your mouse around without any wires pulling you down. I don't know what it is, though, but for some reason over time, my wireless mice always just crap out on me. And no, it's not just that they need new batteries. Anyways, when Logitech recently approached me asking to review Global Graffiti, their new line of stylish wireless mice and keyboards, I most definitely jumped ...

We Will Never Forget

Hard to believe it's been over 10 years now. That morning is still fresh in my mind as I was crossing the Tappan Zee Bridge as the first plane was on its way to destruction. Take a moment today to stop and think about the lives that were lost and the sacrifices that were made that day and the days, months, years to follow.  It's easy to get caught up in the left vs. right bickering of our two-party political system, especially this close to election time... but what I remember most about the days right after 9/11 was that we truly were One United Nation. Everyone suddenly had more respect ...

Mother and Daughter Writing a Book to Help Tween and Teen Girls

Over the past few months, I've really gotten to know a ton of wonderful bloggers out there. Friendly, supportive, informative, hilarious, you name it. When I heard that Brandy from Happily Blended had written an inspirational book with her daughter, I was real excited for her. As someone with a publishing background, I take a vested interest in that sort of thing so I asked Brandy if she'd like to blog about the book on Mommy's Busy... Go Ask Daddy. I didn't want her to simply promote the book (that'd be too easy), I wanted her to share her experience and reasons for writing the book in the first place. ...
