Watch the Captain America: Civil War Trailer and Start Drooling Now!

#CivilWar Marvel

I told you that Tony Stark was a jerk. I just didn’t realize how big a jerk at the time.

See I woke up this morning to learn that the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War had dropped. I figured it’d be a quick 30 second teaser. Boy was I wrong!

What I got was an early Hanukah present! Over two minutes of intense, Star-Spangled glory. As much as I loved Captain America: The Winter Soldier (which was an amazing spy thriller of a film and my favorite Marvel Cinematic movie to date), I think Civil War could top it.

The main gist of the movie (and the Civil War itself) is that after Cap’s newly formed team of Avengers has another incident with some serious collateral damage, politics get heavily involved. There’s pressure to install a new system headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the actions of the Avengers.

Basically, the government wants to turn Cap and the Avengers into their own private little task force. Cap clearly wants none of that. Tony “I’m a big, fat, techno-headed jerk” Stark, on the other hand, is all for it. He fully supports the government and thinks heroes (who they call “vigilantes”) should be no more than soldiers following the governments orders.

Puppets is another word for that, Tony. And if I know Cap, he’ll fight to his dying breath to avoid having his freedom-fighting team bow down to becoming the government’s lapdog.

What grows from there is a full-on Civil War between two power-packed superteams. One led by Captain America (a.k.a. the Good Guys) and another led by Iron Man (a.k.a. the Bad Guys).

Okay, enough set up. Grab a mop to wipe up the drool you’re about to spill and check out the first trailer for Captain America: Civil War!

Which side are you on?

  3. This looks great. I used to read all the comic books. Introducing the Falcon if you caught that. He was Captain Americas sidekick later on. His first sidekick was Bucky, who looks like a villain in the this preview. Marvel comics heroes and storylines were always better than DC comics.

  4. I can’t pick a side, I agree with Cap but I love Tony. This is going to be the best in the series yet I believe. I’m really interested in what becomes of Bucky but it was a heart wrenching moment for me when Cap choose Bucky over Tony as friends. All o can say is I can’t wait.

  8. This one looks really great! I’m excited for it… though I have been enjoying more of the character building that they achieve in the shows like Daredevil and Jessica Jones. You just can’t fit that kind of plot into a 2 hour movie.

  9. Why do the Marvel movies have to overlap so much? The three Iron Man movies can stand alone. The same with the two Thor movies. But then with the first Avengers movie, it is expected that one has seen Captain America, which I still have not seen. It is not a matter of character development or the like, as that can be easily inferred; but details like the tesseract should not be inserted as mere continuity conveniences.

    • Because that’s what makes Marvel Comics so great. They have such an amazing intertwined history that it feels like one big cohesive movie.

But you don’t have to watch all of them to enjoy them. You could certainly just watch Avengers on its own with seeing Captain America. They fill in the holes briefly. But for the full effect, you should watch it all.

  10. Bucky’s back! Bucky’s back!

I absolutely LOVE Bucky. And Sebastian Stan. I wish they’d bring him back to Once Upon a Time as the Mad Hatter, again. I’d tune in for that.

    This movie looks AMAZING.

  12. I can’t wait to see this movie. Though I’m weak for Captain’s handsomeness, I’m still quite not over Iron Man’s witty personality. Let’s see how it is after watching the movie.
