Sinus Pressure Won’t Stop Me From Enjoying Sunday Afternoon Football

Mother Nature hates me. There's just no other explanation I can think of. It's mid-November and one day it's so warm that I can comfortably wear a T-shirt outside. The next day? Yeah we have snow on the ground. This massive shift in temperature just wreaks havoc with my sinuses and head congestion. While I do suffer from year-round allergies, they get the worst in the spring and late summer. I love the outdoors, but after a good hike or even walk around the lake, that may mean the end of the day for me. The headaches start, the sinus pressure builds and my eyelids feel like they weigh a few ...

6 Favorite Fall Activities Jeopardized By a Stupid Stuffy Nose

Fall is probably my favorite time of year. Growing up in the Hudson Valley, we get some of the most beautiful colors around when the leaves start changing. It's also usually a lot cooler in the summer so I can finally enjoy the great outdoors without fear of sweating like crazy. Unfortunately, being outside anytime of year can be not so fun for me when I have a stuffy head. Whether it's a cold or my all-too-familiar allergies, my nose gets super stuffed and on really bad days, it feels like there's a bowling ball in my head and I can barely keep my eyes open. I just want to curl ...

Sick Days? Nobody’s Got Time for That!

There are sick days, and then there are sick days. I've certainly had my fair share over the years but one of them definitely sticks out in my mind. It was about a year before I got married. At the time, I was working as a magazine editor for a magazine all about comic books (Shout out to Wizard!) and San Diego Comic Con was coming up. We not only attended to cover the event, but we had a large booth there too where we'd give away all sorts of crazy comic book prizes and interact with our fans. The whole editorial team took shifts at the booth (roughly four hours a ...

5 Crucial #TravelTipZzz You Can’t Live Without

I so guessed wrong weather wise on my trip to England. I love traveling. Whether it's by car or plane, I'm always up for a trip. Which is one of the reasons I absolutely love my new job. I'll be going on a number of business trips around the country this year. But the coolest thing about my new job is that for my first three weeks, my company flew me out to England to meet the entire UK team and get trained in how the company runs. I learned a ton on that trip, and not just about my new company. I learned how to be a much better packer! Allie and ...

Where Did That Lost Hour From Daylight Saving Time Go?

Sleep. It's one of the most precious commodities in the world. I'll admit it, I love to sleep. In my high school and college days, I don't think I ever saw daylight before 11:30 am on the weekends. Yet there are two natural predators of the precious sleep cycle: children and Daylight Saving Time. And what's worse, they don't get along with each other. Once you become a parent, the words "good night sleep" become a work of fiction. Kids are up all hours of the night, then they get up crazy early and by the time they're old enough to sleep through the night, your body's already so out of whack, you ...
